The pictographs in this painting represent the ones found on cave walls near Presidio, in South Texas. The Rio Grande Perch is a member of the cichlid family, and is native to Texas. The crawdad and hellgrammite (a cycle in the dragonfly's life) can be seen around Texas shorelines.
